Principal's Message

Gray’s Creek High School is located in the southwestern corner of Cumberland County. It is a true community school serving the students of this growing rural area. During this, our seventh year of operation, we have solidified our identity as a unique and individual high school supported by a school system committed to continuous improvement. With our current student population of just over 1200 students in grades 9-12, we are large enough to provide a wide range of opportunities for students while keeping a smaller, more personal climate where students can be seen as individuals.

Our state of the art facility is designed around an atrium that gives a feeling of openness and warmth. This plan makes all areas of the building accessible through one main entrance, which enhances security for our students and staff. Each classroom is equipped with computer network, close circuit TV, and phone. Laboratories for science and technology classes have the latest equipment for student use.

The curriculum of Gray’s Creek High School is centered on rigorous core academics, supported by a Career and Technical program that is computer technology based. We are excited to continue our Information Technology Academy. This program provides a small learning community for a cohort of students, preparing them to step into post secondary opportunities with college credit and certification in computer engineering and networking. Our freshman class comes into the protected environment to help ease the transiton from middle to high school. Students may choose from a variety of cultural arts programs to develop their talents and appreciation of music, dance, visual art, and theatre. The Navy JROTC offers opportunities for students to sharpen their leadership skills to and develop self-discipline, intellectual, and physical skills. Drill Team adds a competitive edge to this outstanding program. Our well-rounded curriculum provides a variety of options for students’ individual needs and interest with a solid foundation in core courses.

It is the extra curricular programs at any school that give students a since of belonging. Here at Gray’s Creek we offer abundance of clubs, organizations, of course, athletics. Our FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, Hosa, and Skills USA team have sent students to national competition. Many of our sports teams have earned slots in the state play offs.  Although we are establishing a winning tradition, it is important to note that we are developing student-athletes. They are students first and foremost. We are extremely proud of all that our students have accomplished. There is much to choose from at Gray’s Creek.

It is the people of Gray’s Creek that truly make it a special place for young people. Although our teachers and staff come from diverse backgrounds and locations, they have one common factor. Our staff likes to work with teenagers.
