The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT), a small learning environment, introduces students to the broad career opportunities in today's digital workforce and equips them with the personal, analytical, technical and communication skills needed for these careers. AOIT opens the door to new options, so that students may make sound choices for the future. Affiliated with and administered by the National Academy Foundation (NAF), based in New York City, this program is designed to facilitate the transition from high school to more advanced training and eventually a career in the information technology industry.

Academy students complete the following comprehensive studies during their junior and senior years:

A+
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
Students who complete all program requirements will receive a Certificate of Information Technology Studies in addition 
to their high school diploma.

·         Introduction to Computers+ (CIS 110)

11th Grade

·         Hardware/Software Installation/Maintenance (A+ Certification)

·         Advanced Hardware/Software Installation/ Maintenance (A+ Certification)

*12th Grade

·         Networking Concepts + (NET 110)

·         Information Systems Business Concept+ (CTS 115)

·         Networking Basics* (NET 125)
                   or

·         Introduction to Simulation & Gaming Design (SGD 111)
                  and

·         Simulation & Gaming Design (SGD 112)
                  and

·         Simulation & Gaming Design (SGD 113)
                  and

·         3D Modeling (SGD 114)

(at Fayetteville Technical Community College)

+Five (5) FTCC courses are required.

Each Academy member is required to take two years of a foreign language. This may be done in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12.

Students must maintain a C average in all Academy classes and an overall GPA of 2.7 to continue on our Academy program.

Additional Academy Requirements

: Portfolio (to be completed by end of the senior year)
: Minimum of 25 community service hours per semester
: Proudly wear Academy uniform once a week
: Attend one scheduled meeting per semester

Requirements for Admission

Students will be selected for the Academy of Information Technology based on the following criteria:

: Completed Application
: Academic record
          8^th Grade provide recent report card
          9^th Grade provide transcript
: Teacher recommendations
